Lost

Lost

This abstract painting is a visual exploration of what occurs beyond death. This work depicts an expanse in white and grey hues dotted with clusters of bold vivid shades of pink and crimson. The vibrant forms appear to be dispersing and recombining as they drift in space, offering a visual representation of the basic scientific law that energy cannot be extinguished or destroyed, it can only change state.

The composition of the painting likewise represents the structure of matter itself, where very scarcely distributed particles in space are held together by energetic forces. The sparse fragments of colour in the painting illustrate that matter is a temporary coherence of particles and energy in space. As the forms break apart across the canvas, they celebrate the idea that death might be less an ending and more a release and transformation, an unbinding of the pattern we call a person, when the boundaries of the self begin to blur.

The painting also explores the concept of consciousness, suggesting that awareness, memory, or presence might diffuse rather than vanish after death, and assume a new configuration within space. It proposes that when matter and energy reorganize, the essence of consciousness may shift into a different state as well, just as colours and textures in the painting disperse, recombine, and continue in altered but enduring forms.
