Solitary Road
Solitary Road
In Solitary Road, a faint silhouette of a human figure is walking along a path. The figure blends almost completely into the background and can only be distinguished from its surroundings through soft outlines and variations in the teal shading. This relationship between the faint silhouette and its environment evokes thoughts of a dissolution or a merging that represents a return to the wider collective of life, where the individual transitions from a state of finite separateness to one of a wider presence and connectedness.
Areas of vibrant, textured brushstrokes appear in the foreground, reminiscent of colourful foliage and blooms. The vivid, organic clusters stand in juxtaposition to the fading figure, reminding the observer that, ultimately, life persists. The journey is solitary and introspective for the figure, but not a lonely one.
